Regardless of how much makeup you put apply, as the body’s biggest organ, keeping your skin clear, smooth and soft is one of the most important things you can do to prepare yourself, before your big day. In the run up to the wedding, you may want to treat yourself to facials and salon appointments, but it can get expensive. Homemade DIY face masks can be a cheap alternative and give your face a more natural healthier glow.
Here are some recipes for face masks you can make at home with ingredients in your kitchen cupboard.
- Brown sugar
- Olive Oil
Take 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and mix with 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the palm of your hand. Mix together in your hand to make a scrub texture and massage into your skin for five minutes to get rid of the excess dead skin. Rinse off with warm water.
Your cleansed skin will now be a good base for the creamy mask. Use half an avocado and mix together with ¼ cup of honey. The natural oils from the avocado and the sticky consistency of the honey will ensure that your skin is well hydrated and refreshed. Apply on your face and leave for 10 minutes before washing off.
- Full fat milk
Banana face masks are great for wedding preparation because of their brightening and anti-ageing qualities. The first step is to boil some milk. After the milk cools, scoop up the skin that forms on the surface with a spoon, and save this for the mask. Mash the banana, mix with 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of honey to form a smooth, spreadable texture. Leave on the face for 10 minutes before rinsing off.
- Orange peel
Vitamin C is the best healing nutrient for oily and acne prone skin. It contains natural astringent oils that will soak up grease and tighten pores. Mash up 1 tomato with a dash of lemon juice and about a teaspoon of orange peel. Create a mixture that will stay on your face. This mask may need to be used more regularly than the others, but the results will be amazing.
