Teshorn Jackson Photography did a brilliant job of capturing this stylish art deco and edgy engagement shoot of James Earl and Sabrina Hamilton. Here is the story of how they met as told by Sabrina.
How did you guys meet?
Before they called it social media, we met over MySpace in 2005. We initially only sent each other instant messages and then exchanged phone numbers a short time later. We enjoyed talking with each other and had an instant connection because we both LOVE playing video games.
I think he found it hard to believe that a girl could be a gamer and played Metal Gear Solid, a popular Playstation video game out at the time. We dated off and on throughout the years but officially got back together in 2014. We both strongly believe that God led us back to one another.
Exactly how did the proposal happen?
The proposal was on December 16, 2015. Which was the 10 year anniversary of our very first date. James had just gotten home from a workout and when I opened the door to let him in, he immediately got down on one knee and proposed. Our plans for getting married had always been a normal conversation but I was totally shocked! I think he was nervous too because he grabbed the wrong hand and I had to correct him, lol!
Engagement Session Location-Why was this location important?
The location wasn’t as important as much as the aesthetic. We had to find how we wanted our photos to look, which would ultimately determine the location. Our photographer, Teshorn Jackson, did a great job of bringing the two together. James and I desired an engagement session that was edgy yet sophisticated. Above all, we wanted to avoid the cheesy field of flowers engagement shoots; that just didn’t fit our personality.
How did you know your mate was ‘the one’?
My faith and spiritual life are very important to me and I was protective of who I allowed to get close to me. I knew he was ‘the one’ because he was the only guy I ever dated who I had this sense of peace with. I didn’t want my emotions to cloud my ability to assess our relationship correctly, especially since we had been ‘on-again and off-again’ throughout the years. Being with James just felt right and we both complimented each other in different ways. After praying and seeking counsel from our pastor, it just confirmed what we already felt
Where will you have your wedding and why did you choose this location?
Our wedding will be at the Texas and Pacific Station main waiting room in Fort Worth, Texas. It is part of the Texas and Pacific Railway Terminal built in 1931 which was later restored in 1999. The building’s architectural scheme is Art Deco with Zigzag Moderne motifs. I chose this location because I LOVE every and anything Art Deco. I fell in love with the art deco style fixtures and ceiling details before we were engaged and knew this was where I wanted to have our wedding.
What did you all do for a first date?
We were both still in undergrad and had planned in advance to see a movie, but played ‘Metal Gear Solid’ on the PS2 in his dorm room before we made our way to downtown Fort Worth (had to prove my gaming skills, lol!) . We ate burgers at Billy Miners which was a popular bar and grill at the time, right before heading to the movies to see the King Kong remake starring Naomi Watts and Jack Black.
Thank you Sabrina and James for sharing your story with us and to Teshorn Jackson for capturing the edgy hot images! We wish you the very best with your wedding. Do share your wedding images with us (after you tie the knot), to complete the story!
